Who Will Take Care Of My Dog?

It can be distressing on you when the inevitable happens and you have to leave your dog even though you many not want to. Leaving your dog should not cause you concern as with the help of a dog sitter this stress can be reduced.

Much like a baby sitter a dog sitter is someone who can take care of your dog while you are away. The problem now is how do you select this dog sitter. Here are some tips that may help you in choosing a dog sitter.

Ask Around

One of the best ways is to ask around, people such as relative or neighbors who have previously enlisted the help of a dog sitter are a good place to start. Word of mouth is always a good way to determine whether a sitter is good or not at their job and people are always more than happy to share a bad experience with you.

Ask Your Dog

The phone book or advertisements in the newspaper is also another good place to look for people who offer their dog sitting services. Ask them to come over and meet your dog. You will be able to tell right away whether the person is the right one for your dog by observing the chemistry between your dog and him or her. If you think they have good chemistry, then you can go ahead and ask for that sitter's services. But if they do not get along well with each other, then thank the sitter for his or her time.

Experience

You want somebody who has had experience in the area of dog sitting. Most of the time, somebody with experience will somehow give better service than newbies, but this not usually the case. You could also hire somebody with little experience if you, with your instincts, tell you that he or she will be a good dog sitter for your pet.

Insurance

Even though it is not a must, it would still be good if the dog sitter you hire has insurance. This will somehow ensure the safety of your dog although this does not necessarily ensure that your dog will be given total quality care.

Contracts

Remember to select people who will accept to undertake signing a contract on the conditions that you both have set. This will show that the sitter has the best intentions when it come to taking care of your dog, It will also help if something goes wrong along the way that you have written and legal proof.
