Online Fake Ids: Obey The Law!

The very words fake ID evoke so many legal connotations that if you wanted one for any reason, the first place you'd look to get it made is in some shady alley in a small hole-in-the-wall back-room.

The last place you'd expect it to be available is out in the open, right there on the Internet. However, a search for fake IDs on the internet reveals innumerable sites that produce fake IDs openly. What's more, they claim the fake ids are legal even though fake ID and legal seem like such a contrary juxtaposition of terms. An ID serves as a means of personal identification and contains vital information regarding any one individual. Tampering with that information is illegal and so is creating another ID with different information.

So- getting back to the subject of being able to get fake IDs on the internet. Look carefully at the fine print- actually on most sites it is written in BIG, BOLD LETTERS- and you will see that these fake IDs are made strictly for novelty use and for the sole purpose of fun and practical jokes. They are not a replica of and neither do they attempt to be a replica of, any identification currently available anywhere in the world.

A fake ID is not a legal document and cannot be used as such. While possession of a fake ID is considered legal, it is how you use it that makes it illegal. It cannot be used as a license to drive or to derive any social security benefits or to prove one's age. And it most certainly cannot be used to buy alcohol or cigarettes by proving that you are above the legal permissible age. Misusing your fake ID for personal, financial or political gains is considered an offence and severely punishable under law.

Many underage teens are under the mistaken notion that purchasing alcohol using a fake ID is their problem and nobody else's. After all it's their life and they are likely to be the only victims, if any. While this may not be the biggest crime in the world, it can have devastatingly far-reaching consequences. First of all the chances of getting caught are very high as bar owners and employees are adept at spotting fake IDs. And if you do get caught you could be fined for possessing alcohol as well as for misusing your fake ID. Repeat offenders could find themselves in jail leading to a down hill journey that could cost you your education, your job and your driving license as well.

So go ahead and by all means get yourself a fake ID if you want to, but remember that it should only be used to play pranks on family and friends. Bartenders, cops and social security officers will fail to see the funny side of it if you try pulling a fast one on them using your fake ID.
